After graduating with a Masters in Economics, Andy began his career in accountancy with EY, building up an understanding of financial accounts. He joined the financial services industry in 2008, a few months before the financial crisis. Joining an Independent Financial Planning company during this period provided Andy with invaluable experience that has defined his philosophy and work ethic. It was apparent that the crisis affected clients in different ways, but one key theme stood out – clients need to fully understand their investment portfolios.
Building on his early experiences, Andy is committed to ensuring his clients fully understand the advice he gives them, as well as how their investments are managed. It is this understanding that helps to develop his relationships with clients, on both a personal and professional basis. The emphasis on client relationships is very much the bedrock of Raymond James, Jewry Street.
Andy prides himself on his technical knowledge. He is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, having won awards along the way recognising his technical knowledge. Most notably, Andy was awarded the 2014 Insurance Institute of London (IIL) Award for being the highest achiever of all IIL candidates when completing the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning examinations. He had previously been awarded the IIL ‘Certificate in Financial Planning Prize’ when completing the Certificate of Financial Planning earlier in his career. While having this level of expertise to call on has undoubtedly benefitted his clients, it is Andy’s eagerness to continue learning that ensures his advice remains relevant.
Andy deals with all aspects of financial planning, but his qualifications mean he specialises in pensions and tax planning, where his technical skills can be best utilised.
Financial plans are often not straightforward, so Andy’s ability to explain a complex solution in straightforward language is key to building solid relationships. It is these strong relationships that ensure Andy can focus not just on what his clients want, but also on what they need. It is this desire to focus on building long term relationships that inspired Andy, along with Ed Froggatt, to set up Raymond James, Jewry Street, where they can both focus on delivering an exceptional service to their clients across the full financial planning spectrum.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife, son and daughter, and when time permits, the occasional round of golf.
Ed has worked in Wealth Management for over 20 years, most recently as an Independent Financial Adviser for a small Wealth Management business. For the 10 years preceding that, Ed worked at Lloyds Private Bank, advising clients across Central London on all aspects of their finances. During that time, he was based opposite the Royal Courts of Justice and was focused strongly on the legal profession, guiding individuals on their investments and financial planning.
His past employment has provided Ed with experience in both a large corporate institution with its primary focus on compliance, and in a small independent practice which allowed him to focus on personal service. Together, they have given him a thorough understanding of financial planning in these ever-evolving times, as it is important to be able to provide a personalised service without the constraints of a large corporate institution.
Given the world we live in now, it is vitally important to have respect for the past, a clear understanding of the present and the ability to react wisely for the future. The last 15 years have seen some very challenging times. Ed knows you need to enjoy it when things are going well but perhaps more importantly, he will be there when they are not – whether that is for financial or more personal reasons. He puts understanding and expertise, and – more importantly – his client’s objectives, values, and aspirations at the heart of what he does.
Ed recognises that relationships are built on credibility, trust and respect, and these are the core beliefs upon which Raymond James, Jewry Street, was founded.
Outside work, Ed enjoys family life. He loves being outdoors and all forms of sport. He keeps fit by running regularly as well as playing golf and fly fishing.
Stuart joined Raymond James, Jewry Street in July 2018 to head up the investment proposition. Stuart has over 20 years’ financial services experience having previously worked at Canada Life and NLP Financial Management. At NLP he was the senior investment analyst and was primarily responsible for the research and maintenance of the model portfolios, as well as the development of the investment proposition. Stuart was a member of the NLP Financial Management Investment Committee for over 11 years which determined the wider investment strategy for client portfolios. Stuart has built up an extensive network of contacts which ensures he always receives important information on a timely basis whilst also allowing access to fund managers to discuss their funds in great detail.
Stuart has a law degree, holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the level 6 CISI Diploma in Capital Markets, where he also received an award as the highest achiever in the Bond & Fixed Interest Markets paper.
Away from work Stuart loves spending time with his wife and two young daughters. He is an avid reader and was once a keen badminton and football player although his best days are now behind him. He continues to enjoy keeping fit through cycling and running and is currently learning Spanish.
Latrena has over 15 years’ experience working in the financial services industry. After graduating from Cass Business School with an honours degree in Banking and International Finance in 2008, she then joined the sales support team of a boutique investment firm who distributed structured products to the IFA market. Graduating and starting work at such a challenging time in financial markets meant that Latrena was able to gain a valuable insight into the working of the financial markets, and learnt quickly the importance of strong client relationships.
In order to expand on her knowledge of investments, in 2010 Latrena joined NLP Financial Management. She initially joined the IFA firm as an Investment Administrator but was soon promoted to the position of Paraplanner, working alongside Andy. Latrena supported Andy in all aspects of their clients’ affairs, and continues to do so in her role as Chartered Paraplanner and Operations Manager at Raymond James, Jewry Street. Latrena liaises closely with all clients, manages our support team and has a general oversight of all client work. Latrena prides herself on her client servicing skills, her attention to detail and her ability to organise herself and others.
Latrena holds the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and has therefore attained Chartered status. She has also been a finalist in the paraplanner category for the Professional Adviser Women in Financial Advice Awards on two occasions, making it on to a shortlist of just ten women chosen across the country.
Outside of work, Latrena enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughters, and also loves to travel. Latrena attempts to keep fit with high intensity workouts such as running, boxing and circuit training, although realises most of this hard work is somewhat undone through her love of socialising with family and friends.
